Why I Can't Witness!

“Evangelism is Not My Gift”

God gifts people in a variety of ways, one of which is evangelism. We hear much about spiritual gifts, but unfortunately we're now hearing a misunderstanding of gifts. People are saying, “Evangelism is not my spiritual gift” and then excuse themselves from witnessing.

While evangelism is a spiritual gift, all Christians have the responsibility to witness. In the same way, some Christians have the gift of giving, but all Christians have the responsibility of tithing. All Christians must trust Christ to save them, but some Christians have the unusual gift of faith.

So for every gift there is a commensurate role every Christian is to fulfill. For example, every parent must train their child to live a healthy, happy life as a responsible citizen. But some people have the gift of teaching. For those who don't have the gift of teaching they are not absolved from the responsibility of training their child to live a godly life.

Witnessing is bragging about what God is doing in our lives. When we witness, we give praise to a God who cares for us, protects us, and instructs us. Our public praise of God directs the attention of the non-Christian toward the inner workings of the Holy Spirit who calls all to a saving and loving relationship with Jesus.
